CAUSES AND PROGRESSION OF PERIODONTITIS
Periodontitis occurs when various pathogenic bacteria in the mouth merge to form a biofilm (plaque). This bacterial plaque persistently clings to the tooth. Gingival pockets (an ideal breeding ground for bacteria) and inflammation are the outcome. If this condition remains untreated, the inflammation spreads to the bone, causing the tooth to fall out.
Since it is very important to us, to not even let it get that far, we focus on detecting the early stages of periodontitis in our practice. An important instrument we use is the computerized periodontal Florida Probe examination probe, which we utilize successfully. We also record your data with the electronic system ParoStatus, so we can monitor any changes in your findings.
